Denkt man an das elisabethanische Lautenlied, fällt einem spontan John Dowland und vielleicht noch Thomas Morley ein. Wer verbindet jedoch etwas mit William Corkine, Robert Jones oder Tobias Hume? Letzterer mag Gambisten bekannt sein, aber denen begegnet man ja auch nicht übermäßig häufig. Interessant ist die Aufnahme vor allem deshalb, weil hier eine Lyra Viol zum Einsatz kommt, die zu den Vorläufern des von Haydns Dienstherren, Fürst Esterházy so geliebten Barytons gehört.
